Serving with an Open Heart
Since joining NCC in 2023, Stephanie Anghel has become a familiar and welcoming presence through her service as both a Deacon and a member of the Welcome Team. Her heart for serving others shines through in every role she takes on.
For Stephanie, becoming involved at NCC felt like a natural continuation of a lifelong commitment to community service.
"In my previous years of community service, I followed the mantra 'service before self, '" she shared. "The messages shared and the opportunities to support my community aligned well."
When she was invited to serve as a Deacon, Stephanie immediately knew it was the right fit, drawing on both her previous volunteer experience and her work as a mental health clinician.
One of her greatest joys is serving on the Welcome Team.
"It is an honor to be the first one members see as they enter the church at the beginning of a new week," she said. "I love being able to connect with people, and bringing the light to start our time together has a very strong spiritual meaning for me." Serving has also transformed Stephanie's own life. "I feel more connected, and I've had a shift in my focus from individual gain to collective well-being."
What Stephanie loves most about NCC is its welcoming spirit.
"NCC serves as a beacon of hope and home for people of many different backgrounds, and I feel very grateful to be a part of it."
Looking ahead, she hopes to continue building relationships and using her gifts to serve others.
"My hope is to continue to connect with others and share my gifts to make a lasting impact. We are never alone and always deserving."
Stephanie's kindness, compassion, and servant's heart remind us that a warm welcome can make all the difference. We are grateful for the many ways she helps NCC be a place where everyone feels seen, valued, and at home.
